A group of dedicated local volunteers is proud to announce an exciting new initiative to transform the historic Tabernacl Chapel in Cardigan into a vibrant community hub, entitled Hwb Aberteifi. This ambitious project aims to create a multi-functional space that celebrates Cardigan’s rich cultural heritage while providing a hub for education, music, poetry, and community activities.

A Vision for Hwb Aberteifi
The old Tabernacl Chapel, a Victorian-era building, holds immense potential as a community asset. Once restored, Hwb Aberteifi will offer:

  • A cultural and educational centre showcasing the works of local poet and Archdruid, Dic Jones.

  • A music studio and recording space for the community music label, Fflach cymunedol, which plans to return to the Tabernacl vestry to showcase local artists.

  • A drop-in area for residents and visitors to discuss and develop new activities and initiatives for the town.

Launched on St David’s Day - March 1st, 2025, the target of £150,000 has been achieved.

Hwb Aberteifi now own the tabernacl chapel and work has already begun to make the buildings weatherproof before winter. Once this has been achieved we can start work on the restoration.”
